2K Games has a world-class line up of games that includes NBA 2K, WWE 2K, Carnival Games, Borderlands, and many more. With such a heralded legacy coupled with their history of delivering jaw-dropping experiential activations, it is an ongoing challenge to find new and exciting ways to keep loyal fans engaged while creating accessible experiences that bring newcomers into the fold. With GameStop Expo, we had the added challenge of creating excitement around a trio of legacy titles for a group of the worlds most discerning gamers and store managers.

GameStop Expo, the video game retailer’s proprietary event,  is aimed at educating Store Leaders and other associates about all the new releases hitting their stores in the new season. While this one-day event does not offer all the glitz and glamour of mega-shows like E3, it allows 2K to connect with their B2B community in an intimate and rewarding way.

For this year’s GameStop Expo FG|PG was tasked with creating excitement and buzz around NBA 2K19, WWE 2K19, and Carnival Games. In order to create engagement beyond the typical video-game demos available throughout the exhibit hall, we created a carnival atmosphere in the 2K booth and offered up some serious prizes as well as chance to meet sports royalty. Participants in our Pop-a-Shot contest competed for a chance to win the grand prize of NBA tickets all while winning fun constellation prizes throughout the day. We set up a Money Grab Machine that placed contestants in a wind chamber filled with real money that they could grab and keep. We even brought out some of the most famous athletes of all-time for an exclusive meet and greet and autograph signing. GameStop employees had the opportunity to meet and take a photo with legends like Domantas Sabonis, Julius Irving, Rey Mysterio, and The Big Show.

Building meaningful relationships is all about how you make people feel. At this year’s GameStop Expo, 2K and FG|PG created a number of experiences that brought friends and co-workers together to create lasting memories. And everyone had a whole lot of fun in the process.
