Bigger isn’t always better. For Pokémon’s exhibit at Gamestop 2015, we used two large inflatable Pikachu’s—a beloved Pokémon character—to catch attendees’ eyes. One hovered overhead while the other sat booth-side giving fans a chance to pose for selfies.
Pokémon wanted to engage fans directly with its product and its brand. As costumed Pokémon characters strolled the trade show floor to heighten brand presence, attendees crowded around “Learn to Play” tables to experience the Pokémon trading card game first-hand.
Despite the modest size of the exhibit, the highly visible branding drew guests in—so many guests that extra staff had to be summoned to cater to the traffic. Not a bad problem to have.
